Aamras Recipe – Traditional Mango Delight With Saffron & Cardamom
Aamras is a traditional Indian mango puree sweet that captures the very essence of summer. Made with ripe mangoes, flavored with cardamom, and infused with a touch of saffron, this refreshing dessert is typically served with piping hot pooris or enjoyed as is. It’s a nostalgic favorite during mango season, especially in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
Ingredients
For Aamras Recipe :
- 2 ripe mangoes (preferably Alphonso or Kesar)
- 4 to 5 tsp sugar (adjust as per sweetness of mangoes)
- 1 pinch saffron strands
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp water (for soaking saffron)
Instructions
- Wash the mangoes thoroughly.
- Peel and cut the mangoes into small chunks.
- In a small bowl, soak saffron strands in 1 tablespoon of water and keep aside for 5 minutes.
- In a blender, add the mango pieces, sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron water.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the aamras into a bowl.
- Chill before serving for enhanced flavor.
- Serve with poori or enjoy as a standalone dessert.
